AIIMS Nagpur Secures NABH Full Accreditation, First Public Hospital in Maharashtra

Nagpur: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences – AIIMS Nagpur has been awarded NABH Full Accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) under the Quality Council of India, marking a major milestone in institutional quality assurance.

With this recognition, AIIMS Nagpur becomes the first public hospital in Maharashtra to receive NABH Full Accreditation.

The accreditation covers one of the widest scopes of clinical services among public hospitals in the country, including major specialties, super-specialties, transplant services, and critical care.

Congratulating the institute, Executive Director and CEO Dr Prashant P. Joshi said that the accreditation reflects the collective efforts of faculty, residents, nursing officers, and administrative teams in establishing robust quality systems and ensuring safe, patient-centred care.

He noted that the achievement further strengthens the institute’s standing as a leading public-sector tertiary-care centre committed to excellence in healthcare delivery.

Medical Superintendent Dr Nilesh Nadgeve stated that the accreditation reinforces the institute’s focus on patient safety, quality care, and continuous improvement.

The accreditation process was coordinated by Dr Nitin Marathe, Joint Medical Superintendent, with active participation from all departments and hospital committees.

AIIMS Nagpur: NABH Full Accreditation Strengthens Institutional Quality Standards

The NABH Full Accreditation process involves a comprehensive and rigorous assessment of patient safety protocols, clinical governance, infrastructure, documentation standards, infection control practices, medication safety, risk management, and quality improvement systems across the hospital.

Since the commencement of clinical services in 2019, AIIMS Nagpur has treated over 25 lakh outpatients and more than 1 lakh inpatients, and performed over 42,000 surgeries, including major and super-major procedures.

The latest accreditation underscores its growing role as a key tertiary-care public healthcare institution in Central India.
